HEY, I GOT NEXT........

Introducing Corey Jones aka DJ Cka'as he is a New York native and HE'S GOT NEXT!!!!!.

Raised by a single mother, he and his younger sister were moved down to Atlanta, Georgia in search for a better way of life. Unfortunately the move was not as successful as planned in the beginning. Corey didn't adjust as easy as one would think. With no interest in school or anything else for that matter, Corey was on a wrong path. Luckily his mom was not going to let him be a statistic. She kept on him trying to peak interest in something. After changing schools a few times and overcoming many obstacles, Corey soon found an interest and talent for music and deejaying.

His mom found a co-worker that had started her own web based radio podcast, DI Radiocast, and asked for her assistance to help Corey get involved with his interest in music. Africa Allah became Corey's mentor and created a show for urban teens, "Don't Watch Nothing" which he now serves as hosts. It is a weekly show that includes music and talk segments, it also has segments for independent teen artist trying be heard.

After talking to his counselor she informed him of a producers workshop for the, FOR ME Program. Corey was introduced to a whole new side of the music business, he later enrolled in the Deejay Series of the workshop.

In June of 2008 DJ Cka'as and the teens of DWNTeen started G.R.E.E.N's Teen Scene, a teen talent showcase where teens come out to perform. With these shows under his belt now DJ Cka'as is now looking to broaden his experience in music production. He is now working on various mixtapes for upcoming teen artist and his new podcast show, POP, which airs November, 2008. In the near future Cka'as wants to start his own entertainment/record label while still deejaying around the world.

Please visit his FOR ME Network page and find out how you can be involved and support his endeavors..... If you have music send to him to get on a mixtape, if you are an artist and need more exposure...hit him up to ask how to get on the showcase or be interveiwed, if you are an executive....find out what opportunities are available for you to build your business skills.....the networking starts now...and the network starts with you!!

YOU ARE THE FUTURE OF REAL MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!! WORDS YOU MUST KNOW......

ONE SHEET. A marketing document created by a record label that summarizes in marketing terms, the credentials of an artist or band; as well as describing in summary form, the promotion and marketing plans the label has developed to help sell the record. It also includes interesting facts about an act's fanbase and target audience, as well as all the essential promotion, marketing, and sales tactics that the label will use to help convince a distributor to carry and get behind a new release

LOOP A piece of music that is repeated in a song.

DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION. A distribution method in which the consumer logs in to an approved website that offers preview samples, singles or full albums online for "download" (transfer from the Internet Web server to the individual user's computer hard drive). Distribution programs are being set in place (and improved) to offer more secure on-line transactions, consumer licensing, and anti-piracy measures. Consumers are currently able to download music to copy onto CD or portable MP3 player.

PERFORMING RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS - Society whose purpose is to collect monies earned from public performances of songs by users of music and to distribute these to the writers and publishers of these songs in a proportion that reflects as accurately as possible the amount of performances of each particular song. (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC)

SONG HOLD - The process in which an A&R Rep, Manager, or Producer claims "first dibs" on a song to prevent another artist from recording and releasing it. A typical hold is 90 days with first rights, but 30-day and 60-day holds are also common.

8 TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS NETWORKING!!!!

NETWORKING 101

Tip #1 - Keep in mind that networking is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and relationships, and seeing how you can help others.

Tip #2 - Ask yourself what your goals are in participating in certain groups, programs and organizations so that you will pick those that will help you get what you are looking for; your focus should be based more on learning, making contacts, and/or volunteering rather than on strictly making business connections.

Tip #3 - Hold volunteer positions in organizations. This is a great way to stay visible and give back to groups that have helped you.

Tip #4 - Become known as a powerful resource for others. When you are known as a strong resource, people remember to turn to you for suggestions, ideas, names of other people, etc. This keeps you visible to them.

Tip #5 - Ask open-ended questions in networking conversations. This means questions that ask who, what, where, when, and how instead of those that can be answered with a simple yes or no. This form of questioning opens up the discussion and shows listeners that you are interested in them.

Tip #6 - Be able to articulate what you are looking for and how others may help you. Too often people in conversations ask, "How may I help you?" and no immediate answer comes to mind.

Tip #7 - Follow through quickly and efficiently when you receive referrals. When people give you referrals, your actions are a reflection on them. Respect and honor that and your referrals will grow.

Tip #8 - Call those you meet who may benefit from what you do and vice versa. Express that you enjoyed meeting them, and ask if you could get together and share ideas.
